GPRS stands for General Packet Radio Service - it's the technology that works behind the scenes to let you concentrate on whatever you are doing. You're charged for the volume of data transferred, not the length of the call. It's an 'always on' connection, so tedious dial-ups become a thing of the past. Initial dial-up connection is significantly faster. It's up to four to five times faster for data download than conventional GSM. GPRS is available with the same coverage as the GSM network within the UK ( 99% of the UK population). You'll need a GPRS enabled phone or device and connection to a GPRS price plan. This is in addition to your standard price plan. There are four Vodafone Price Plans designed to give you the best value GPRS access. Each refers to the total amount of information you send or receive in Mega Bytes (MB) or Kilo Bytes (KB). You just pay 2p for every 1KB of information you send or receive. Vodafone GPRS 1 costs £7.49 a month and includes 1MB of information. You then pay 0.487p for every additional KB (which equates to £4.99/MB) of information you send or receive. Charged per byte. Vodafone GPRS 5 costs £17.63 a month and includes 5MB of information. For every additional KB of information you send or receive you will pay 0.35p (which equates to £3.50/MB). Charged per byte. Vodafone GPRS 15 costs £28.20 a month and includes 15MB of information. For every additional KB of information you send or receive you will pay 0.18p (which equates to £1.80/MB). Charged per byte. To give you an idea of what you get for your money, 1 MB (1024KB) is equivalent to approximately 30 web pages or approximately 500 individual WAP pages.
